b.l.a.e. salad dressing
(bacon, lettuce, avocado, egg)

We knew once we decided to make our b.l.a.e. salads…we’d have to make a dressing worthy to dress it up! Since the salad is packed with such rich tastes, great fat and umami, we thought a dressing with a little bright taste would lend just the right finishing touch.

We based it off of a sandwich spread used at local “bakery” fast food joint here in Provo. Oh the irony in that…sandwich, bakery…hahaha, ya we clearly don’t eat the sandwiches there anymore, but sometimes will enjoy one of their salads.

We started with some homemade mayo (super EASY to make and it tastes so much better) ~ the recipe we use is from Michelle Tam of nomnompaleo (click here for recipe). I’ve made mention of it in previous posts, just seriously make it already!!

This dressing can be used on many things…it’s bright and adds such a great flavor to anything you drizzle it on, trust me…it won’t last long, in fact ~ you should probably make a double batch!

Ingredients:

½ c homemade mayo made with Chosen Food Avocado oil  (click here for recipe)
¼ c full fat coconut milk
1 T mustard (you can use your favorite type, yellow, dijon, spicy brown)
2-3 t dried chives or optimally fresh chives (optional)
¼ t garlic powder
¼ t onion powder
1 T fresh lemon juice
¼ t Real salt (this is the brand we ALWAYS use (click here for info))
pepper to taste

Instructions:

Seriously…place all ingredients in a deep bowl and whisk till well blended. Adjust to your taste preference with more lemon juice, salt, pepper…etc! You get the picture! This recipe makes about 1 cup of dressing, and with most things made with “real” ingredients, a little packs such great flavor that you don’t need to use too much!
