Cadbury Mini Egg Matcha Latte

Is this Cadbury Mini Egg Matcha Latte for you?

I woke up wondering if I could infuse the milk I use in my matcha latte with the Cadbury mini eggs. Turns out…it was a definite YES! Now, to be clear; it’s the coating of the eggs and not the chocolate inside. So if you’re not a huge chocolate fan, maybe this infused milk could be something you’d like to try? I also did NOT toss out the chocolate eggs leftover after the coating had dissolved off into the milk, why waste perfectly tasty chocolate!

My go to brands for a tasty MATCHA

I’ve been enjoying matcha for well over a decade, easily! Matcha is one of those ingredients that I enjoy daily, so I have been using the Barista Matcha from Jade Leaf Matcha for many years now. I also load up my morning “warm” matcha latte every day with Vanilla Collagen from Further Food, the new Creatine (also from Further Food) and a little dose of MCT coconut oil. Finishing it off with a frothed French Vanilla Creamer (which happens to be lactose free) from Organic Valley. The combo gets my morning going, keeps me satiated for hours and is truly so delicious!

M’kay, back to the Cadbury Mini Egg Matcha Latte

It’s really not a complicated process, so it’s hardly a recipe. Given that, I also know that sometimes a little guidance can go a long way for tasty success. So I’ll add a recipe card below. You’re basically, tossing a handful of eggs into the milk you’re going to use for that latte, let it set and your’e in business. The milk will take on a slightly “yellow hue” but that’s when you’ll know it’s time to enjoy! Feel free to be adventurous and try this “infused milk” with your favorite espresso, maybe you make some chia pudding with it, add it to your overnight oats–so many possibilities!

Here’s the truth, in order for Google to “see” my recipes via the SEO Gods of chaos, I have to meet certain criteria dictated by said “gods” so links there are a plenty. A few do in fact earn me a few extra pennies via affiliate links to not only Amazon but to the FoodSocial Market. I’ll say thank you in advance! As we all know, every little penny counts!

Since I now there will be questions…

The wooden bowl you can see holding those Cadbury Mini Eggs is vintage and family heirloom. My Mother-in-law was half Finnish and so very proud of her heritage. On one of her trips there, I’m assuming this bowl was purchased and brought home. After she and my Father-in-law had both passed, somehow this treasure ended up in my husband’s possession. So happy to be able to share it “virtually” in pictures with you. It’s even more gorgeous in person!

Prep time

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Cadbury Mini Eggs

  • 1 cup whole milk, can sub milk of choice

  • 2 tsp matcha powder (or 1 tsp depending on how strong you like your matcha!)

  • ¼ cup water

  • -frothy top

  • 2 tbsp reserved, infused milk

  • 1-2 tbsp cream or creamer of choice

  • Ice cubes, as desired

Directions

  • Add Cadbury Mini Eggs to a small jar, pour milk over the top to cover, stir well then set a timer! I let mine sit for 10 minutes. What you’re essentially going for is that all the candy coating is dissolved off of the eggs!
  • While the eggs are doing their thing, add your matcha powder to a shallow bowl, pour in the water and whisk away to fully incorporate the powder, set aside.
  • Once your eggs are “chocolate eggs” without the coating you’re ready to go!
  • Add as much ice as desired to a 12 oz cup/jar. Strain the infused milk (reserving about 2 tablespoons for that frothy top if desired) over the ice, followed by the frothy matcha. Add the remaining infused milk to a narrow glass, add an extra tablespoon or so of cream or creamer, froth then top that matcha.
  • If you’re so inclined, you can also add a few crumbled eggs to the top as a garnish like I did. While not required, it’s just so much fun to garnish this way!
  • Stir, sip and enjoy!!
