Caramel Apple Smoothie (Paleo + Gluten Free)

fall apple smoothie

A smoothie that’s so fun this time of year — and my goodness it’s scrumptious! My Caramel Apple Smoothie is everything you love about fall in a glass: real apple blended until smooth and creamy with Maizly corn milk, dairy-free caramel, a swirl of my Caramel Apple Simple Syrup, a generous pinch of Primal Palate Apple Pie Spice, and just enough Greek yogurt for thickness and protein. Ready in under 5 minutes and it genuinely tastes like a caramel apple in drinkable form.

One of my favorite little tricks with this smoothie is leaving the peel on the apple. I know it might sound unusual but that red peel adds the most fun little flecks of color throughout the smoothie and a little extra fiber and nutrients. Pink Lady is my apple of choice here for its sweet-tart balance, but use whatever variety you love and have on hand. And don’t skip that caramel swirl drizzled over the whipped cream on top — it makes this smoothie look like something you’d pay way too much for at a coffee shop! Just sayin’.

Why This Caramel Apple Smoothie Is So Scrumptious

It’s the combination of the real fresh apple with the Caramel Apple Simple Syrup that makes this taste so deeply fall-forward. The syrup is already infused with Granny Smith apple, brown sugar, and warm apple pie spice, so when you blend it with a whole fresh Pink Lady apple you get this layered, complex apple flavor that is genuinely addictive. The caramel adds a buttery caramel richness that is absolutely the chef’s kiss.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Here’s a quick look at what goes into this smoothie. Full amounts are in the recipe card below.

Maizly corn milk (can sub milk of choice) as the liquid base, plain Greek yogurt (or your favorite dairy-free yogurt) for creaminess and protein, one whole Pink Lady apple washed and diced with the peel on, dairy-free caramel, Caramel Apple Simple Syrup, Primal Palate Apple Pie Spice, and ice cubes. For the garnish: whipped cream or dairy-free whipped cream, a drizzle of more caramel, and a sprinkle of apple pie spice. That finishing garnish takes this from a smoothie to a moment!

How to Make It

Add the milk, yogurt, diced apple, caramel, simple syrup, apple pie spice, and ice to a high-powered blender. Blend 40 to 60 seconds until the apple is completely smooth and the smoothie is thick and creamy. Pour into two serving glasses, top with whipped cream, a generous drizzle of caramel, and a sprinkle of apple pie spice. Sip immediately and enjoy every single sip!

Tips and Swaps

Leave the peel on. It’s a tasty tip that adds fun color flecks, extra fiber, and additional apple flavor. If you prefer to peel the apple first you certainly can — the smoothie will be slightly lighter in color but equally delicious.

No Caramel Apple Simple Syrup? Regular maple syrup works in a pinch and is a grand substitute here! The simple syrup adds a deeper, more layered apple flavor but the smoothie is still really scrumptious with maple syrup standing in.

Use a high-powered blender. You want to fully pulverize that apple peel and all the ice for the smoothest, creamiest result. 40 to 60 seconds on high does the trick beautifully.

Make it dairy free. Swap the Greek yogurt for your favorite dairy-free coconut or almond yogurt.
