Viral CHIMICHURRI FRIED EGG - ok, so the viral thing is really frying an egg in pesto, but really, the two condiments are like kissing cousins right?! Since I made a fresh batch of my ARUGULA GARLIC CHIMICHURRI yesterday, that’s what I used! . You basically replace the cooking oil (be that bacon fat, avo oil or ghee) with chimichurri & fry that baby up. I added some goat milk feta crumbles as well as a kiss of chili flakes. Family “DECADES” BIRTHDAY BASH - on Sunday we had a birthday bash celebrating 6 family members who all turned a “decade” over the course of 2023. We obviously had to enjoy foods that were popular in each of those decades!! I’ll drop all the details below on all the “DECADES” games & foods we celebrated with. Love this family & am feeling so overwhelmingly happy about being able to call them mine!! xoxo . We feel like Lesie Knope would be proud & my creative partner in all this was my daughter Erika, she is a real life Leslie Knope! 🫶🏻 @itsybitsy14 . We played a card game called TENS as well as a dice game called TENSIES. Both are very fun & appropriately named! . 1️⃣9️⃣6️⃣3️⃣ - JELLO CUPS! 🌈 Drew, my hubby, turned 60. His love of jello runs deep, so I made up some multilayered mini jello cups. Everyone loved these & they’re so cute! @oilcandrew 1️⃣9️⃣7️⃣3️⃣ - CHEESE FONDUE 🧀 Donnielle, my sister, turned 50. Fondues were all the rage in the 70’s so what better way to enjoy than a Swiss cheese fondue! We dipped away with meatballs, roasted potatoes, sourdough cubes & roasted broccoli! @donniellecarter 1️⃣9️⃣8️⃣3️⃣ - CHICKEN NUGGETS 🐔 Jonathan, one of my sons- in-law, turned 40. In the early 80’s McDonald’s kicked off the whole “chicken nugget” craze (I actually worked at McDonald’s back then & got to sample McNuggets before they were officially on the menu) so we baked up a bunch for all the finger food memories. @j.exton10 1️⃣9️⃣9️⃣3️⃣ - FRUIT BY THE FOOT 🌀 Matt, my nephew in law, turned 30. Fruit by the foot was on every end cap at every turn in most grocery stores back in the 90’s. A very nostalgic snacky snack everyone enjoyed! @mattjwoodruff27 2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣3️⃣ - COOL RANCH DORITOS “WALKING” TACOS 🌮 Mei & Dray, my two oldest grandkids, both turned 10. Taco Bell had a “Cool Ranch Doritos Taco” available for a bit in 2013, so we improvised & made a walking taco station where you open a bag, add some taco meat then drop in all the toppings.
