Summer entertainment just got a serious upgrade. This Waffle Cone Butter Fruit Dip started as one of those “what if” ideas. What if I took my family’s all-time favorite fruit dip and stirred in a few generous spoonfuls of my Waffle Cone Butter? Guess what…it was a GRAND idea.
Poolside. Beach day. Backyard BBQ. Potluck spread. Afternoon snack board. This dip is delicious-ness for all of those. It’s fluffy, creamy, lightly sweet, and has that warm, toasty waffle cone flavor woven all the way through. Serve it with a big platter of your favorite summer fruits and watch it disappear.
No baking. No cooking. Ready in about 15 minutes. That’s the kind of recipe summer was made for. It all begins with my Waffle Cone Granola that I had the honor of collaborating on with my dear friend Michelle Pusateri of Nana Joes Granola. Assembly tips

For ease of assembly, I like to prep all my fruits in different cuts before I add them to the platter. Pineapple conveniently can be hand held if you leave sections with the rind on. Kiwi fruit can be cut in half with a zig zag pattern! Did you know you can eat the green top on strawberries? You can leave them whole or slice in half. The pretty green tops are so pretty. All of these options provide some visual variety as well as pops of color. If you feel like some fruits might be better on a skewer, feel free to get creative!
I like to place the empty vessel the fruit dip will be placed in on the platter as I arrange the fruits. Then once all the fruits are in place, you simply need to spoon in the prepared fruit dip. You can see that I went with an oblong bowl–since the platter is round, this different shape also lends some visual variety. Don’t forget to crush up some Waffle Cone Granola to add as a sprinkle on top of the fruit dip, it’s a fun way to garnish and adds some nice texture.

Waffle Cone Granola Butter Fruit Dip
Ingredients
- 8 oz Cream Cheese Full Fat, can sub dairy free as needed
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 4 – 5 Tbsp Waffle Cone Butter see above for recipe
- 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 pinch Vanilla Baking SALT – am.Niccoli brand can sub standard salt as needed
- ½ cup Heavy Whipping Cream can sub dairy free as needed
Instructions
- Take cream cheese out of the fridge and let it come to temperature for about 15 minutes, this will make incorporating it with the powdered sugar easier.
- Add cream cheese, powdered sugar, 4 tablespoons of the waffle cone butter, vanilla and vanilla salt to a medium sized mixing bowl, whip together with a hand mixer until fully combined. Taste and adjust with more waffle cone butter, re-mixing to incorporate–then set aside.
- Clean the beaters of your hand mixer then add the whipping cream to another mixing bowl and whip it until soft peaks form. Add this to the cream cheese mixture and mix well until fully combined.
- It’s ready to use now or store in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve.
Tips for the Best Fruit Dip
- Don’t skip softening the cream cheese. Cold cream cheese won’t whip smoothly and you’ll end up with lumps. Give it a full 15 minutes on the counter.
- Taste as you go. Start with 4 tablespoons of waffle cone butter and add more to taste.
- Whip the cream separately. Folding in freshly whipped cream is what gives this dip its gorgeous, fluffy texture.
- Make it ahead. This dip actually gets better after a few hours in the fridge as the flavors meld. Perfect for prepping the night before a party.
- Dairy-free? Both the cream cheese and whipping cream can be swapped for your favorite dairy-free versions.
What to Serve With Waffle Cone Butter Fruit Dip
Pretty much any fresh fruit is fair game. Maybe your favorite is strawberries? Don’t stop there though, pineapple spears, watermelon wedges, peach slices, grapes, kiwi, raspberries, blueberries, apple slices, and mango chunks are all incredible here. For extra fun, serve it alongside broken waffle cone pieces for dipping! The crunchy contrast with the creamy dip is next level. You can also use small store bought cookies, nuts or even rolled twills. Giving guests the option to fill their plates with not just tasty fruit, but a crunchy element if they choose.
Storage

Store leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Give it a quick stir before serving. Does not freeze well due to the whipped cream.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I make this without a hand mixer? Yes, but make sure your cream cheese is very well softened first. A hand mixer or stand mixer is highly recommended for the whipped cream portion especially.
- Can I use store-bought whipped topping instead? You can in a pinch, but the texture and flavor won’t be quite as good. Freshly whipped cream gives a lighter, more luxurious result.
- How far in advance can I make this? Up to 24 hours ahead is ideal. The flavors actually improve as the dip sits in the fridge, so making it the night before a party is a great strategy.
- Where do I get Waffle Cone Butter? You make it! My Waffle Cone Butter recipe is on the blog and so worth the effort and is endlessly useful, not to mention so tasty!
